I'm back in the metropolis* that is Lynchvegas** this week, thus the lack of blogging this past Friday and today. I'll be back to it next week, but for now I just wanted to pop in and say hello and make sure everyone was doing well.
Planning on having photos and stories from the trip up on Monday, but the time so far has been sweet and restful and, funny enough, so incredibly encouraging.
You know how, in the Old Testament, God so often had his people build altars after big turning points or events in their lives? Visiting Lynchburg more than a year after moving feels like returning to an altar in a lot of ways. The last time I was in these places and with these people, I was freaking out about how my life was falling apart. Being in and with them again has forced me to stop and really remember that season.
Looking back from where I am now, knowing all the unexpected and undeserved goodness that followed, has been breathtaking. It gives me so much confidence for the future. I guess I don't really know what I'm doing any more now than I did then, but I'm so much more convinced that God does, and that therefore I can be okay with it.
(I am also balancing that very sweet spiritual refreshment with stoking the deep, dark bitterness in my heart over how flat/gross Katy is in comparison to central Virginia LIKE IT'S MY JOB!!! So before you think, "Wow, three Jesus-y posts in a row! Ryley is so full of goodness and light!" Don't you worry! Still depraved as ever!)
Okay, I'm done.
See you Monday!
