Weekend Roundup: May 11
"You have to go wholeheartedly into anything in order to achieve anything worth having." Frank Lloyd Wright
What I’ve been working on:
Other than day-to-day social media work, I have two primary projects on my plate at RightNow. The first is prep for an upcoming campaign — I can’t say much about it at this point I don't think, but if you don’t already, follow RightNow on all the things so you can check out the offer when it launches! (It’s really, really good — excited!)
Writing the copy, helping shape the visual direction, and actually building out the social media ads for that has been an awesome (if tedious) learning experience for me. Ya girl lives in Ad Manager now. :/
The second project is promoting The Book of Colossians with Louie Giglio, which releases May 22nd! I don’t fangirl over many people, but Louie Giglio has been an incredible influence on my own spiritual walk, so I was over the moon when I found out we were partnering with him on an Original.
At the start of the year, I laid out my ideal promotional schedule for Original releases and a corresponding “wish list” for our video and design team of necessary material — video pieces, photos, graphics, etc.
The idea is to work on a bell curve of sorts — dripping promo content with increasing frequency up until release week, hitting it hard week of, then steadily easing back off. That takes more than double the amount of content we've had at our disposal for releases in the past, and thus a lot of coordination with and support from other teams. However, the studies RightNow makes are so high-quality — both in the actual content (if you guys only knew how much theological proofing goes into these) and overall aesthetic (hello do you have eyes they are beautiful works of art) — that I want to make sure as many people as possible are aware of and watching them!
Colossians is the first study we’ve released that will be promoted according to that schedule, with those assets, and y’all. I’m blown away. Our video team especially put a ton of work in, and it shows in the resulting teasers and shorts. They’re gorgeous. And all the graphic elements are, per usual, custom designed by the guys on my team. Basically, I am the spoiledest social media coordinator there is. *cries tears of gratitude*
Check out the promo that’s already dropped (like this, this, and this) and follow along to see more during release week. (And actually watch the study when it hits RightNow! It’s awesome. Srsly.)
Other than that, just writing away here and for some personal projects. We’re less than a month away from the Texas Water Safari, people! Which means that my first longform story in too long isn’t far behind! I’m stoked.
Randoms for your weekend:
I LURVed this article on Spurs assistant coach Becky Hammon.
“Here’s to gratitude and how it turns everything into enough.” I used to follow Today’s Letters religiously back in the day — such a sweet blog, the Loerke clan seem like such genuinely wonderful people — but it somehow slipped from my regular reading. I stumbled across it again after Emily showed up on the Instagram feed of a photographer I follow. As I read through recent posts, my breath caught at that quote — the sentence read like she’d written it just for me. Something I’ve felt but not been able to articulate, and needed a little extra that day. So happy I rediscovered the blog!
I went down a deep Vimeo Staff Picks rabbit hole a few days ago. My favorites? The Wild Inside, Sanderson to Bracketville, Blonde Highlights, Forgiving Pipeline, and Hi Lo Cali.
