Internet Fun! | January 19
It’s everyone’s favorite intermittent list of fun things from the internet! Here’s what I’ve found recently that are worth sharing. Check them out and then I can talk to someone about it besides my roommates, who are probably getting tired of it.
Sara Davis Regan debuted a new song at a local concert a month or so ago, and it made me tear up — partly because it was so beautiful, partly because I know the story behind it, partly because I relate to that story in so many ways. I loved it. So when she released this video singing it, I was stoked. Put on repeat and enjoy.
Speaking of things that made me emotional, Brendan Leonard’s mini-doc How to Run 100 Miles got me at the end. Wonderfully edited, great storytelling, and, in signature Brendan style, managed to make me both laugh and cry — definitely worth a watch.
Wise words from Seth Godin, as usual.
This article from Outside Magazine about the man behind most ski maps satisfied that particular curiosity that usually drives me to write stories. I’m a little jealous I didn’t get to author it myself. Such a great idea.
My recent climbing habit has led to watching more climbing videos than before (which was a surprising lot, considering I’d never tried the sport myself). I watched and loved The North Face’s short on Margo Hayes sending La Rambla shortly after she made headlines doing so, and when a friend tipped me off to a longer Reel Rock episode about her 5.15 accomplishments a couple days ago, I was thrilled. Fun watch, even if you don’t climb.
I’ve been slowly combing through Austin Kleon’s list of 100 things that made his 2018, and have found (and re-found) so many gems. This post is one of my favorites so far.
Enjoy!
